Hi! We are Myriam & Andy, your hosts at Andresna House.
As founders of the Swiss Restaurant "Edelwise" in Dublin-Ranelagh, which has got TripAdvisor‘s Certificate of Excellence for four years in a row, we always had the dream to hosting our guests under our own roof. With Andresna House, this dream became true in summer 2019. – After two very intense years of planning, renovating, extending and converting the main house as well as its outbuilding, Andresna House is now open for bookings. – As an outstanding lakeside boutique B&B, we see ourselves as a host for gentle tourism, deceleration and environmental awareness with a wide range of activities and attractions. Come and explore our beautiful gem on the south shore of majestic Lough Arrow.
About Myriam
Myriam has a master degree of economics from the University of Zurich and still teaches young salesmen at a vocational school of commerce and administration in Zurich. Here at Andresna House, she’s not only responsible for the administration and all calculations, but also – with her amazing culinary skills – for what we serve to our guests; just like before in Ranelagh. But there is much more: That special flair to make things a bit more personal, to offer a bit extra attention and quality or simply to make you feel like a special guest; almost everything bears Myriam's signature. Wonderful recipes, organic cotton bed linen, flower arrangements from our grounds and garden, beautiful homemade pastries; you name it.

Are we dog friendly? How could we not!
We are dog handlers ourselves so we both like dogs a lot and we are indeed happy to offer some of our rooms as dog friendly. As regulations in Ireland are rather restrictive, bringing your own pet dog is limited to the availability of our rooms with a separate entrance. However, there's some rules and fees that you can find as part of our Terms & Conditions, but no worries, basically you are good as long as your buddy doesn't disturb our other guests. Any Questions? For anyone deliberating on booking this property - don't hesitate.
I couldn't fault it. The house itself is beautiful, an old house that the owners have renovated beautifully, stylish and warm in the most beautiful setting overlooking the lake. We stayed there for one night because we were attending a wedding in Kilronan castle (15 mins drive away). My only regret is that we had limited time to enjoy Andresna house itself. It's the kind of place to chill with a partner or close group of friends. Enjoy the lake, or hikes, or beaches within driving distance. No pubs within walking distance though! But taxi service to and from Kilronan was grand, and easy organise. The house is very peaceful, with a nice garden around it and loungers out the front that if you had a book or glass of wine that you could easily relax and enjoy the setting. Myself, hubbie and 5 family members stayed, so we took up the majority of seats at the breakfast table the next morning which was very conducive to a long leisurely breakfast, in a room with gorgeous view, and a very impressive breakfast served. If you're staying for a night it ticks all the boxes, comfort, convenience all at a good price, but if you had more time it equally would be a lovely spot to set base to explore the surrounding area for a few days.
Beautiful accommodation
Very relaxing and extremely comfortable.
Hidden Gem
Beautiful location, very welcoming host and great breakfast.
A smashing two day stay, both at the B&B and the local area
What an exceptionally presented B*B - quality throughout and the owner was so personable and helpful. the breakfast was not only ample but beautifully prepared - scrumptious. and the location is fantastic, being right on the lake!
Excellent Accommodation
Very helpful staff and a delicious breakfast in the morning.
Excellent customer service and breakfast too
The location is stunning and the house is so beautifully decorated and rooms are perfect. My bed was so comfy. The host Andy was a pleasure to deal with and so helpful with information about the area and taxis, etc. The breakfast was genuinely beautiful, with location produce being promoted. Most of the guests that stayed the night I was there, and we were all going to a wedding nearby, said we would rebook another time of year.
Very refreshed after our visit can't wait till next time
Location is beautiful and so relaxing views of the lake are lovely. Breakfast was superb fresh relaxing and a good choice.
Beautiful and comfortable house on the loch
Beautiful B&B on the loch. The views are stunning. Andy, is warm and welcoming. Very very comfy bed. And the art on the walls was the cherry on top.
Always again gladly
You can't make it any better. A fine Swiss gentleman who has everything under control. Rarely experienced such a thing. 👍👍
This is one of the best accommodations experiences I have ever had.

Stunning location
Great host, house appointed to perfection.
Views don’t get much better than this
The personal and friendly welcome. The swim in the private lake and the delicious breakfast. Perfect in every way. Andy goes out of his way to make sure that every individual guest enjoys all that his beautiful house has to offer.
Really lovely house, clean, comfortable rooms.
Lovely B&B, 10 minutes down the road from Kilronan Castle where we were attending a wedding.
A corner of calm
A corner of calm, with lake view, far from everything and with a caring host.
Relaxing and easy detox
The location is amazing and tranquil. Perfect to wind down.
Absolutely stunning B&B
Spotless clean and fabulous hosts. We can't wait to visit again.
Lovely lakeside location, very tranquil
Liked not having TV in bedroom. Also enjoyed the variety of delicious cooked breakfasts.
In a word: perfect!
Everything was perfect. The location with beautiful views of the lake, with only nature and silence and only in the distance a country house across the lake. The interior was beautiful, the building has been restored with so much love and attention by the owner, with great attention to details. Clean as a whistle, breakfast with fresh local fruits, all kinds of bread and spreads. And that was only the basis, and every day we were asked what we wanted: fresh wild salmon, all variations in eggs, etc. A beautiful garden with respect for nature, with a mowed path leading between native flora and orchids to a stone bench by the lake. Just from the view you became happy and even with bad weather you are having fun, either in one of the large sitting rooms with reading or the dining room with large dining table with free luxury coffee and tea.
Perfection
Absolutely everything! From the amazing location by the lake, to the house decor and the exquisite breakfast. Andy is an excellent host and he made us feel so welcome (dog and fussy Italians included 😄). Thank you Andy for making this trip so special for me and my family!
We have had the best stay with Andy
Everything was absolutely perfect, such a relaxing environment.
Relaxation in a beautiful setting
Andresna House is a beautiful property, with a fabulous house. The bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast so tasty. I really recommend it.
Andresna House is a gem.
Loved everything about Andresna House, can't wait to visit again and definitely stay longer! State-of-the-art hospitality, spectacular rooms, superb breakfast, and an absolutely fantastic location. Had the chance to meet fellow tourists and share a lovely evening as well as extremely pleasant breakfast together. Our hosts have been impeccable and we really look forward to our next holiday at Andresna.
A very enjoyable stopover in every way.
Beautiful location. Excellent facilities. Wonderful hospitality.
Excellent breakfast, beautifully cooked.
Lovely stylish house, tasteful, elegant, and well appointed and fantastic views. Loved the coffee machine with nice selection off coffees and teas. Great vibe in the rooms with splendid collection of art and books to view. Very knowledgeable friendly and helpful host. We had a dog friendly room, spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and useful separate access direct to room from outside courtyard so didn't need to take dog through main house. Very well thought out. Overall lovely place to stay.
We enjoyed everything.
We had a great experience at Andresna House! Andy, the owner, is very kind and helpful. He made us immediately feel welcome. The house is beautiful, impeccably clean & so very comfortable. The gardens are stellar! Breakfast was delicious...one of the very best we've ever had at a B&B. The location is rural.& very scenic...a great place to relax, unwind & chill out in a beautiful accommodation! There are lots of opportunities to go for a nice walk or just enjoy relaxing in front of the lake. Highly recommend.
Great location and hospitable welcome!
The location of the house is simply sensational! The host was extremely friendly and the breakfast was great. We would like to come back and stay longer than just one night.
A splendid experience
The host, Andy, was very friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional. The countryside is amazing. We couldn't have picked a more wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend that you stay 3 to 5 days here!
Everything was great here!
Beautiful area, very hospitable owner and super good food.
Perfect stay, highly recommend
Everything. It’s a traditional country house beside a lake in a forest. The atmosphere is great with a fire lit at night. Bedroom comfortable and had everything that was needed. Breakfast fantastic, one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a B&B, fresh, local produce. Host was good also.
An extraordinary, very, special place
Treat yourself to this luxurious B & B. Aside from being lakefront, Lough Arrow, Andresna House boasts a spectacular walled garden and apple orchard and the house is filled with gorgeous art and literature. My room was gorgeous and comfortable, bathroom totally modernized with the very best. My shower was divine. The breakfast starts with fresh yogurt, bread, jam, butter, delicious cheeses, granola, muesli and fruit. I was stuffed before the hot breakfast even came out. Andy made me poached eggs upon request and fresh sausage, bacon and grilled, seasoned vegetables. It was delicious. Today I visit the very beautiful Boyle Abbey and Castle Island on Lough Key. I wish I booked more than one night at this very special place.
Very comfortable experience in an incredible setting
Spectacular view of the lake, impeccable accommodations, incredible breakfast, and very friendly host. Andy had good suggestions for dinner. I went to the Oarsman at Carrick-on-Shannon.
Great B&B - I would definitely stay again - Highly recommend
The breakfasts were amazing - from traditional Irish breakfast with bacon and sausage to vegetarian broccoli omelette. I am gluten-free and the host had multiple options for me which made me feel very welcome and cared for. The bed was very comfortable. The house was in a beautiful location on a lake. It was quiet and peaceful. The host, Andy, was fun and interesting to talk to. Basically, I liked everything.
Absolutely gorgeous B&B
Stunning views, gorgeous breakfast. Very clean rooms and incredibly comfy beds. Stayed here with couple friends when going to a wedding nearby in Kilronan castle.
Excellent.
Everything.
The location...
...and kindness of the host.
What a gem!
A haven - tastefully restored and full of original character, along with the highest of standards of a modern guesthouse. Can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful property - it’s off the beaten track but everything about our stay was remarkable. The house is so tastefully restored, the bedrooms and all of the house and surroundings are fabulous and everything was spotless. Breakfast was delicious and we were so well looked after. The view and setting are fabulous also. Would recommend it to anyone!

We got a very warm welcome
We had an excellent breakfast and a beautiful room. We really enjoyed our stay. The house is excellently restored to a high standard. Our bedroom was very comfortable and our host was so welcoming. We look forward to another visit.
Beautiful period building
The premises is a beautiful period building with fabulous views and the service was amazing. Breakfast was exceptional with a great variety on offer.
A sense of peace is in abundance in Andresna House
The breakfast was exceptional. The presentation and quality of the food presented was of a very high standard and we noted that any challenge presented by ourselves or any of the other guests was met with infectious enthusiasm. Making use of only the very best of local food supply was a key component of making this experience something that we will be positively talking about for many times to come. Our visit was dominated by rain that covered all of Ireland. This was not any fault of Andresna House but despite this uncontrollable event the house and its wonderful staff wrapped us with a great sense of care and a "canny" knowledge of knowing when to intervene, with the most interesting facts about the locality and when to just let us relax in the quietness of the moment.
Andresna House overlooking lovely lake in woodland
Andy was very welcoming and eager to facilitate us with whatever we required. His breakfast was exceptional with eggs freshly cooked with wonderful organic vegetables from his garden. Organic sausages & bacon plus, plus, plus. Beds most comfortable overlooking the fab garden. Very modern shower. Everything to make our stay exceptional. Thanks again Andy!.
Pleasure to be a guest in this wonderful house
The very best breakfast of our whole trip. The house is very well maintained and decorated with art work, the beautiful garden, the view of the lake, all excellent.
An unexpectedly excellent stay, peaceful and restful.
The setting was beautiful and the house has been restored to an exceptionally high standard with great attention to detail. Our host Andy was very welcoming and provided useful information about the house and it's surroundings. We both thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast which was well cooked and extremely tasty. The selection was excellent. We had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it if you would like a peaceful break. It would have been nice to have been able to stay for an additional night or two. (I just need to ask for mattress details as it was extremely comfortable!)
The location is absolutely stunning, magnificent views!
The house decor was exquisite. The rooms were warm and clean. We felt very welcomed thanks to Andy, our fantastic host. The breakfast was delightful and had an excellent selection of foods which were beautifully served. We loved every minute of our stay and it definitely exceeded our expectations.
The location was spectacular.
The breakfast delicious.
Our stay in Andresna House
Everything about the house was unbelievable - the facilities, the scenery, the owners! They were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us all. Highly recommend, a hidden gem that we can't wait to visit again!
Everything was great!
The host is very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was very good. The house was furnished with great attention to detail. Great location on the lake.
An awesome welcome in an aesthetic place
A perfect location in the middle of nature. The location is superb by the lake. The house is completely renovated with great taste. Andy's welcome is very warm. Nice meeting! We will come back with great pleasure.
I loved everything about Andresna house!
Andy is incredibly welcoming and puts a lot of effort into making each of his guests feel comfortable. The property is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. We’ll be back for sure.
Really enjoyed our stay and I would have no hesitation in recommending
My sister and I stayed in June. It was a lovely overnight stay and my only quibble was I could not stay another few days. It is like a little escape from the fast hectic world we live in. There is a lovely calmness to the property and the attention to detail is obvious in every room. Breakfast was a treat with some wonderful local honey available. The 'ivy' honey was delicious. You can see the owners have a focus on good quality.....food, furnishings, linen. Lots of room to sit and relax in the house and also outside seating to enjoy the gardens.
Fabulous spot would def stay again
This property is in the most amazing setting on a lake, the view was spectacular! Breakfast was divine too. T he room and en suite, and while house actually, are beautifully designed. And Andy is an angel
We had a lovely time and everything was perfect
Breakfast was delicious and everything was perfect
Wonderful stay with wonderful hosts!
Lovely hosts, delicious breakfast, beautiful location.
A lakeside gem, a memorable experience
Wonderful place, charming lakeside location, great host, excellent breakfast. Recently renovated by a Swiss advertising executive looking for a new challenge, Andresna house offers comfortable rooms with private baths and shared downstairs living rooms 25 minutes south of Sligo and Strandhill beach at what, considering the quality, can only be described as a bargain price. One of the rooms has a dog-friendly layout with a separate garden door to accommodate guests traveling with pets. The house exudes an air of relaxed sophistication, and the art collection which adorns the walls of the house is a treat and includes some real treasures. Breakfast highlights include a choice of five different honeys and a homemade sour dough bread which will linger in your memory all day. This was our first stay here, and definitely won’t be our last.
10/10 recommend
This is a really great little find. The host is extremely friendly and welcoming. The property itself is stunning, situated overlooking a lake, and was exceptionally clean throughout. The breakfast was delicious and catered for all sorts of requirements, with plenty of hot and cold food options. The location was great, we were staying here to attend a wedding nearby at Kilronan Castle which was around 10-15mins drive from the property. Would recommend pre-booking a taxi if you are staying for a wedding, as taxis were quite busy. but the host kindly shared taxi phone numbers with us, and the taxi company knew where the property was etc. Overall highly recommend staying here :) Thanks for having us!
Beautiful location
Tranquil and stunning setting, exceptional hospitality and venue.
Quiet and serenity at the edge of a lake!
B&B on the edge of a lake in total calm! Very welcoming and friendly host. Lounge, dining room with good coffee machine and very nice garden. Very good advice for restaurants in the evening.
Lovely overnight on our motorcycle tour
Lovely location and welcome. Fantastic breakfast, the best we had on our 4 days break in different hotels, etc. We would definitely return.
Just first class!
Very attentive and friendly host, sustainability is taken seriously! A quiet place to relax!!
Already looking forward to a return visit
Lovely location off the beaten track with peaceful views. Very well appointed and finished property and grounds. Super hosts and a very good breakfast in both quality and choice.
Superior breakfast in a exceedingly pleasant dining room.
Lake views spectacular. Walk in shower was great. Nespresso available all the time was good. Sophisticated decor and art works.
An immaculately restored lakeside country house with a great host.
This is a gem. A small country house in a very private setting with beautiful rooms and art. No televisions and the most beautiful location on the shores of Lough Arrow. Andy gave us some fantastic recommendations for restaurants nearby as well as info on local places to visit. Breakfast was excellent. Perfect for couples or anyone looking to chill. We’ll be back for a longer stay next time.
Wonderful short stay - unfortunately too short.
Wonderful location and a very tastefully furnished house.
It was a real pleasure to stay in this B&B
The warm welcome full of attention, the house is superb, the impeccable cleanliness, everything shines, the comfort of the beds, the shower room, the breakfast of very good quality, in short, everything.
Perfection!
Our stay at Andresna House was perfect - would highly recommend! Andy was a wonderful host and was so helpful telling us about the sites to see and explore in the local area. We brought our dogs with us, and so having a room with a private entrance for them was a massive bonus. Andy is a fantastic chef and we enjoyed a brilliant breakfast every morning with organic ingredients. Lastly, the house is situated in a lovely spot with beautiful views over Lough Arrow.
Great B&B in Ireland
One of a kind and just a level of quality that is rarely matched.
Absolutely breathtaking view and an unexpected gem in the countryside
Everything from start to finish. The high spec of the bathrooms was incredible. The comfort of the beds. The amazing and friendly host. The delicious breakfast.

This place is absolutely stunning! Andy was a great host and very attentive to the guests needs. 10/10 for cleanliness, amazingly comfy bed and a breakfast to die for in the morning. Beautiful Property
Beautiful well appointed home! Great attention to detail inside and the outside was well maintained. Sits right on its own breathtaking lake! Andy was a very welcoming host and breakfast was perfect!
Absolutely beautiful location
The room and house is gorgeous, but I stood out by the lake for an hour or more just looking at the scenery. There is also a nearby glen with a creek running to the lake.
Great stay
The upkeep of the place, the owners, the room, the breakfast and the views.
Cleanliness, furniture etc were beautiful
Fantastic hosts with a thoughtful and beautiful restoration of a fabulous house
It was a perfect pitch of everything, from the decor, food, and hospitality.
Location was excellent, a little bit off the beaten track but that added to it's charm and tranquility.
Outstandingly beautiful place to stay.
Everything was excellent, great passion from the owners.
Beautiful House
A haven of peace.
Excellent place to recharge your batteries!
Beautiful place in a charming location in Sligo. The host greeted us and had time for a chat and to show us around. There is a comfortable common area where you can sit and unwind. The room was very clean, spacious and we had the best sleep! The highlight of the stay was a fantastic breakfast- there was a choice of sourdough breads, yoghurt/berries, fantastic cooked Irish breakfast and the host even organised crepes for my 10 year old! I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who wants to explore Sligo while staying in a tranquil, cozy location with a fantastic lake view, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast!
A really great find
Beautiful house in beautiful setting. Refurbished to very high standard. Great welcome from owner, Andy. Delicious breakfast too. We'll be back!
Highly recommend
The house was beautiful. The host was very kind and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious! I would highly recommend!
Perfect Accommodation with great hosts!
A great and lovingly renovated house on the lake. Andy served us a delicious breakfast and provided many tips for our stay. Our room and bathroom were very well-equipped. In the evening we were even lit up by the fireplace.
An idyllic stop where we would like to come back and stay
An extraordinary location and a very well kept house, very quality decoration, perfect breakfast.
The place is so wonderful I'll come back again.
It’s a beautiful, elegant, pleasure place. Beautiful garden, lake, green around make people so relaxed and happy. Especially the host, Andy, is a great cook. He provided the most delicious breakfast for us. I miss it now.
Excellent quality stay
The house was immaculate including bedroom/bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Host was very friendly and informative. The Breakfast was one of the best I have had, amazing selection of continental options.
We were very happy with everything
The host was very welcoming and the property was extremely clean and comfortable. Having such a comfortable bed makes all the difference for me.
Gem of a find 17 minutes Carrick-on-Shannon
Modern amenities in a classic old country house in Lough Arrow. Owner has a boat with motor he will rent for fishing.
